Maintenance of the Bonnet Latch Mechanism

This video addresses a problem with the bonnet latch mechanism of a Volvo V70 that does not close properly. The latch mechanism appears dirty and lacks lubrication. Two cables connected to it are part of the alarm system. The video demonstrates the operation of the latch system by simulating it with a screwdriver tip. It also shows the mechanism's operation by pressing the bonnet release button located in the cabin. At this point, clean every crevice of the mechanism with a cloth. Before disassembly, mark the correct installation position with whiteout. The part is then removed for easier maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication. Simply unscrew two 10 mm bolts. Once removed, give the mechanism another clean, then proceed to grease it (in this case, door hinge lubricant is used). Lubricate both parts of the latch system (the mechanism and the hook located at the top and inside of the bonnet). Now reposition and mount the mechanism, which will finally operate correctly!
