How to Change the Diesel Filter on a Volvo V70

The diesel filter for this model is of the cartridge type but is not located in the engine bay; instead, it is underneath the vehicle, at the rear, next to the fuel tank, on the passenger side. Lift the vehicle on a hydraulic lift and locate the filter housing, then unscrew the drain screw underneath and collect the diesel in a container. Using a pair of pliers, unscrew the cap of the filter housing, remove the old cartridge, and replace the series of O-ring seals always included in the new filter kit before inserting the new one.
