How to Replace the Timing Belt on an Alfa Romeo 156

Prepare to replace the timing belt on an Alfa Romeo 156: lift the car on a column lift or jack (if necessary, remove the front wheel using a screwdriver to take off the right wheel arch liner). Once these operations are complete: lift the bonnet, remove the engine soundproofing panel and the metal timing belt cover. Using a suitable spanner, loosen the tensioner pulley and slide the belt off its seat. After fitting the new belt, use the spanner to tension the tensioner pulley until the correct belt tension is achieved (as previously mounted). Finally, check the tensioner and the belt itself: tighten everything with a socket spanner.
