Video tutorial

To replace the engine oil and filter on an Alfa Romeo 156, slightly warm the engine and then turn it off. Safely lift the vehicle and place a container under the oil sump. Unscrew the drain plug and allow the used lubricant to fully drain.

Then locate the oil filter and remove it using an appropriate spanner. Clean the mounting surface and lubricate the seal of the replacement filter with a little new oil, then screw it on correctly.

Refit the drain plug with the corresponding seal and pour the new oil of the specified grade into the upper filler. Start the engine for a few seconds, turn it off, and wait a few minutes.

Check the level with the dipstick, top up if necessary, and ensure there are no leaks from the filter or the sump plug.
