Things to know about the "low oil" indication on Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Giulia, and Ducato 2.2

On some cars that have electronic oil level measurement and not the classic dipstick, such as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Alfa Romeo Giulia, and Fiat Ducato, we need to know some things. The control unit updates the oil level only under certain conditions, which are: engine at idle (820 rpm +/- 20 rpm); engine oil temperature in the larger cup over 70°C; battery charged to more than 68%; no errors stored in the ABS control unit and power steering; vehicle on a flat surface. If the reading is correct with these parameters, it does not mean that it will update immediately, so we will continue to add oil until the next update to find out if we have added too much. So if our Stelvio (or Giulia, or Ducato) tells us that the oil level is low, don't panic: let's add half a kilo of oil and wait until the next day to take a reading (or go to a good workshop to have them take the reading for us). If, on the other hand, we have added too much oil, we must go slowly to avoid dirtying the airflow meter, and stop at a workshop to lower the level up to 2/3.
