Reason for the Engine Oil Light on the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia 2.2

On both the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia 2.2, the engine oil light "low pressure" may illuminate, but it is often not a problem with the pressure or the oil pump itself. The culprit is usually the oil pump gasket. This rubber gasket wears out over time, hardens, and shrinks, losing its perfect seal; this creates a micro passage that allows oil pressure to escape from the system. As a result, the control unit detects low pressure and turns on the light to alert the driver. Therefore, when this light comes on, first check this gasket before replacing more expensive components. This issue is not an immediate emergency, but it should not be delayed too long, as a broken gasket would lead to total pressure loss, causing severe engine damage.
