To replace the gear knob on an Alfa Romeo 156, first, unscrew the knob to remove it from the end of the lever, providing access to the end of the lever itself. Once the old knob has been removed, slightly lower the leather gaiter and position the knob support: this must be secured by tightening the appropriate bolts. After the knob support has been secured, install the knob itself, repositioning the gaiter that was previously moved.
