Before starting, exit your Audi A5 and approach the external mirror. Begin by pushing the mirror to the right to create a gap on the left side.

Then, using a thin but sturdy tool as a lever, detach the mirror itself and disconnect the plug connected to it. This will expose the screws securing the mirror cap, which you will need to unscrew and remove. Once this step is complete, you can take off the mirror cap, finishing the disassembly.
