- Years 2000-2004 Blocking the coolant thermostat can cause serious engine damage, so immediate action is required. Open the hood and remove the engine protection cover. Remove the two hose clamps placed on the air duct to remove the adjustment block. Below is the thermostat which must be disassembled using a fixed wrench. Remove the various water pipes to access the thermostat and proceed with its removal. The thermostat is located on an aluminum sleeve which must be removed. Install the new thermostat and proceed with the assembly of the various elements previously removed. Reconnect the air hose and top up the coolant.
