BMW Serie 3 - Video tutorial

Model: BMW Serie 3 E46 - Years 1998-2006
Part: Power steering oil
Operation: Power steering oil and filter replacement

The material needed for the job consists of the new filter, the special oil, a few tools and a syringe. Remove the air box and its pipes. In order to avoid that part of the oil ends up in the alternator, place a basin and some rags under the filter. Open the cap of the oil tank and use the syringe to suck the contained oil that is to be poured into the basin. When all the oil has been sucked, close the tank and remove the filter by unscrewing the bolts at the base, then remove the two hose clamps to remove the two hoses connected to it. Position the basin in such a way as to recover and not waste the oil contained in the filter and carefully clean from oil residues. Remove the support bracket from the old filter and apply it on the new one which must be positioned, after reconnecting the pipes, in its seat. Reposition the air box and fill the tank with a little new oil. Start the engine and continue sucking the old oil from the tank until it runs out. Refill the tank with new oil.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
