Can it happen that a shock absorber can burst on a BMW Z4?

Not only in a BMW Z4, but in any vehicle it can happen that a shock absorber may burst. As shown in the video, a shock absorber is a component subject to wear, especially if stressed on rough roads or in difficult driving conditions. Wear can cause the breaking of seals, gaskets or other internal parts, leading to the loss of oil or gas, and in more serious cases, to bursting. Even violent impacts, such as those caused by accidents or deep potholes, can damage the shock absorber and cause it to burst. Sometimes, even incorrect installation can be the cause; or corrosion. In rare cases even a manufacturing defect. The consequence, as in the case shown in the video, is poor road holding: in fact, the driver complained that the car "was not staying on the road" and YouTube suggested replacing it with two reinforced shock absorbers, which could better support the sporty driving of a car of that type. The advice is however to perform regular maintenance by checking the condition of the shock absorbers and other suspension components, replacing defective parts promptly.
