Complete Radio Replacement

Model: BMW Serie 3 E36 - Years 1990-2001

The new generation of car radios features connectors that are completely different from older models, so an adapter is necessary to interface the old connectors with the new series. Not all radio kits come with a pre-wired adapter, so you may need to create one. For this job, in addition to standard mechanical tools, you will need an electronic soldering iron, solder wire, heat-shrink tubing, or, if unavailable, good quality electrical tape. Carefully follow the instructions included with the kit to wire the interface, connecting the various wires to the two connectors using a joint that should be soldered and insulated for safety. Using an Allen wrench, insert it into the slots on the sides of the radio to unscrew the retaining screws, then pull out the complete radio and disconnect the old wiring connectors to install the new kit. Connect the interface wiring to the old connectors and install the new radio.
