To reset the warning lights after a repair or a temporary error on a 2004 BMW X3, you need to turn on the instrument cluster and the engine, steer all the way to the left and then to the right, return the steering wheel to center, and restart the vehicle.

This procedure can work when the error is related to the steering angle sensor or a reset is needed after disconnecting the battery.

However, if the ABS, brake, and 4x4 warning lights come back on, a computer diagnosis is necessary. The diagnosis may indicate that the wheel ABS sensor or the steering angle sensor needs to be replaced.
