How to open the trunk of a BMW 3 Series E90/E91/E92/E93

If the trunk of your BMW 3 Series (E90/E91/E92/E93) does not open electrically due to a dead battery or a malfunction, you can manually unlock it from the rear. Remove the plastic cover located on the trunk lock using a screwdriver or your fingers. Inside, you will find an emergency release cable. With a hook (e.g., a metal wire coat hanger), grab the cable and pull it to unlock the mechanism. The trunk will open. This procedure is valid for all E90 series models. If the cable is not present, you may need to remove the trunk's interior lining to access the mechanism. Once opened, you can repair the electronics or the locking system. Keep in mind that this method is for emergencies only.
