Oil Filter Gasket Replacement on BMW 3 Series

Lift the hood and locate the oil filter. As shown in the video, it is near the front bumper, between it and the engine compartment.

The filter cover simply needs to be unscrewed: there are specific circular and adjustable filter wrenches for this, but with a bit of ingenuity, you can use other tools, like a large pliers. If you want to remove the entire filter housing, disconnect the hoses, the connector, and unscrew the bolts holding it in place.

Once the entire oil filter housing is removed, you can easily replace the underlying gaskets.
