Operation: How to replace the TCM battery of the BMW 3 Series?

When the message indicating the emergency call error appears on the instrument panel of the BMW 3 Series, it means that the TCM battery, also called buffer battery, must be replaced. This is located at the top of the car, under the upholstery covering the roof. In order to remove it, it will be necessary to loosen the bolts that secure the courtesy light ceiling, so that the upholstered part of the roof can be moved, giving access to the TCM battery. This will need to be replaced with a new spare part and all previously removed parts can be installed.
