Removing the Trunk Lock

Model: BMW Serie 3 E46 - Years 1998-2006
Part: Trunk lock

If you have trouble opening the trunk, it is likely that the lock needs to be replaced. This video will show you how to remove it. First, remove all the clips from the panel using the appropriate tool. Once the clips are removed, gently bend the panel to access the screws for the lock. After you have unscrewed the screws, before pulling out the lock, disconnect the electrical connector and the white plastic cable that connects to the key. The latter, as shown in the images, is attached to the lock assembly via a clip similar to those on the panels, into which a flat-tipped pin like a screwdriver is inserted. Car model: BMW E46 M3 Year: 2002
Required tools: panel removal tool or trim removal pliers, Torx 30 wrench.
