Unlike many other cars, the fuse box in the BMW E39 is not located inside the dashboard but in the engine compartment. Before locating its exact position, remember to disconnect the battery and ensure the engine is off before any maintenance or replacement of one or more fuses.

To find the fuse box, fully raise the hood and locate the fuse box cover in the upper left area (passenger side). Remove it, and just below, you will finally have access to the fuse box you were looking for.
