To replace the automatic transmission fluid in a BMW 3 Series, raise the car using a lift for easier access to the components underneath. Next, loosen the screws that secure the lower protection panel to access the transmission case. By removing the bolt that secures the transmission drain plug, you can collect all the used fluid in a properly positioned container. At this point, you can refill through the same hole using a syringe.
