How do you replace the fuel pump on the BMW 3 Series?

In order to replace the fuel pump of the BMW 3 Series, it is necessary to loosen the screws that secure the rear seat cushions, completely removing the latter. Once they have been removed, it will be possible to access the underlying components, including the pump itself: this will have to be removed from its housing by unscrewing its fixing bolts and disconnecting its pipes and connectors. In this way the old pump can be removed from its housing and replaced with a new spare part. The seats can also be re-fitted after installation.
