Installing Hood Support Struts

The struts that support the hood and also hold it during the closing phase are actually gas springs that tend to lose their capacity to support weight over time. They are easy to find in the aftermarket, and replacing them is just as simple. Once the hood is open, use a support rod and proceed with the strut replacement: first, extract the retaining clip of the ball joint and detach it from its seat (both top and bottom), install the new strut, and close the clip to secure the ball joint back in its seat.
