Replacing the Lower Torsion Bar

Model: BMW Serie 7 MK 3, E38 - Years 1994-2001

If you need to replace the lower torsion bar due to the failure of its support ends, lift the vehicle on a lift and start by removing the nuts securing the end links of the bar to the hub support; then, remove the stop pin that secures the end link to the bar, loosen the lock nut, and use a fork puller to extract the end link from the hub before unscrewing it from the bar; then proceed to remove the nuts securing the bar ends to the engine cradle to complete the removal and extract it from its seat; then reverse the process to install the new bar, first seating it in its place, tightening the nuts of the ends, and then screwing in the terminal ones.
