To reset the Service light on the instrument cluster of the BMW 3 Series E46, turn on the ignition and press and hold the button located to the left of the instrument cluster. Keep the button pressed until the word "reset" starts flashing: when it is flashing, release the button and press it again to completely turn off the light on the cluster.

Once the light is off, turn the ignition off and then back on to verify that the reset was successful.
