To reset the Oil Service light on a BMW 3 Series E46, press and hold the button located on the left side of the dashboard and insert the ignition key until the dashboard lights up. The display will show "__test"; while continuing to hold the button, the previous message will change to "reset". When this message starts to blink, release the button and press it again.

The message will disappear, then press the button again to display "end". At this point, the reset of the light will be completed correctly.
