Removing Rear Hood Lift Supports

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003
Part: Body

The lift supports for the rear hood (gas springs) on this car model are not installed traditionally, meaning they are not perpendicular to the hatch but are positioned horizontally along the roof, just behind the hinges. To remove them, you need to take off the plastic covers on the hinges. Use a large screwdriver to reach the ball joint stuck in the designated pin. Since this is a salvaged vehicle, a section was cut in the video to show the detail. At the rear, the lift support is secured with a pin and a snap ring.
