Steering Wheel Controls Disassembly

To disassemble the steering wheel buttons, you must first remove the airbag by working through the two holes at the bottom. There are two hooks that hold the airbag in place, and through the holes, you can reach those hooks. It is also advisable to disconnect the battery to avoid unwanted warning lights or, worse, explosions. The trim pieces are formed on the spokes of the steering wheel by tabs integrated into the trim that are inserted into a rubber housing that keeps them in position. These wires, connected to the trim, are routed just behind the airbag, threaded through the hooks in the steering wheel recess, so just pull them.
