How to Unlock the Tailgate of a Toyota Rav 4

Model: Toyota Rav 4 MK 3, Xa30 - Years 2006-2013

If you cannot open the tailgate of a Toyota Rav 4, you need to enter the cabin. The first thing to do is remove the plastic cover, secured with clips, located at the top of the bodywork, near the top of the tailgate. Next, proceed to remove the inner panel of the tailgate itself. On the right side of the tailgate, still inside the cabin, you will find the locking mechanism of the tailgate. After verifying that the lock does not allow opening, you need to turn the small white component located at the innermost part of the lock (the black one) counterclockwise. All details can be seen in the images in the video. At this point, the mechanism is unlocked, and the tailgate can be opened.
