Alternator Disassembly Instructions

Model: BMW X5 E53 - Years 1999-2006

To disassemble the alternator, first remove the engine air filter box (airbox): disconnect the mass air flow sensor connector, remove the air filter box cover, and then complete the disassembly of the container. Next, loosen the tensioner for the auxiliary belt and slide off the belt to free the alternator pulley. Then, proceed to remove the alternator mounting bolts, moving any hoses that pass over it. Finally, rotate the alternator to disconnect the wires and pull it out of its mounting.
