Replacing the key fob battery for the BMW 3 Series E46, as shown in this tutorial, is a very simple task. For this, you will need a small flathead screwdriver, a utility knife, and a replacement CR2020 battery.

First, locate the slot on the bottom edge of the key fob, then insert the screwdriver into it and pry apart the two halves. Next, remove the circuit board and detach the contact using the utility knife, being careful not to damage it. Then, insert the replacement battery in the correct orientation and reassemble everything.
