To replace the sunroof on a BMW 3 Series, you need to remove the headliner from inside the cabin. First, disconnect the courtesy light assembly and remove all the trim covers from the door pillars. This will allow you to slide the headliner out from the rear of the vehicle. Next, loosen the screws that secure the sunroof sliding mechanism. By removing the old mechanism and the glass panel, you can install the new replacement parts, securing them to the headliner and reinstalling the headliner back into the cabin.
