BMW Serie 3 - Video tutorial

Model: BMW Serie 3 E46 - Years 1998-2006
Part: Suspensions
Operation: Installing the springs and rear suspensions.

Raise the rear of the car. After having removed the spring corresponding to the suspension of the raised part, proceed to install the new suspension of the right rear wheel. To do this we unscrew the locking bolt of the spring and also that of the shock absorber in the part connected to the wheel. In this way the tension is removed and so we can extract the suspension spring. To fit the new spring, insert the fixing bolt from below. Mount the spring locking piece on top of this and secure it by screwing the nut onto the bolt. Insert the gasket on the upper spring housing and finally position the spring. To replace the shock absorber, move the hood out of its housing and locate the plastic caps covering access to the bolts on the upper shock absorber. Unscrew the nuts and remove the shock absorber from below. We install the new shock absorber and lock it in place by screwing the nuts to the bolts that lock it (two above and one below, in the wheel). The procedure is the same for the left wheel. We reassemble the wheels and remove the jack. The maintenance operation carried out in the images is performed on a BMW 3 Series.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
