How to Adjust Coilover Shocks

Model: BMW Serie 3 E91, E90, E92 - Years 2005-2013

When a car is new, the shock absorber setting is very soft, typically ranging from 1 to 4. However, you can adjust it to customize the stiffness. To do this, you need to work on the compression-extension ratio, oscillating this ratio between 3 and 1. Here is the procedure to adjust the car shocks: Position the hydraulic jack directly under the strut bar, usually located near the bumper, not far from the wheel. Place an additional jack under the other wheel for safer work. Now, using the appropriate wrench, remove the wheel to expose the shock absorber. At this point, work on the threaded collar located near the hub that secures the plate with the shock absorber. This procedure is used to adjust the height of the front and rear suspension.
