How do you unlock the automatic transmission of the BMW 5 Series?

In order to unlock the automatic transmission of the BMW 5 Series, you need to lever with an object, so that you can detach the leather covering of the gear lever: by detaching this covering, it will be possible to locate another lever underneath the covering. This lever must be pulled downwards, using perhaps an object like a screwdriver; once this lever has been pulled down, it will be possible to notice that the automatic transmission has been unlocked. At the end of the procedure, it will then be possible to reposition the leather covering.
