Calibrating a steering angle sensor is not complicated at all. On some car models, it is only necessary to turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and then all the way to the right to fully calibrate the sensor, while on some car models, in addition to the procedure just explained, it is necessary to connect the vehicle to a computer for diagnostics. This is the case for the BMW 1 Series model E81. On these car models, it is indeed necessary to connect the vehicle to the PC for diagnostics through the OBD port, and after selecting the car model, select the option related to sensor calibration and then proceed with steering movements simultaneously.
