Replacing the battery in a BMW 3 Series model E46 is a task you can do yourself. To replace the battery in the 3 Series, open the trunk and remove the carpet cover.

Next, remove the bracket using a 13 mm wrench, then proceed to remove the battery. Disconnect the negative terminal first using a 10 mm wrench, then the positive terminal.

To disconnect the positive terminal, first lift the red cover and then use a 10 mm wrench to remove it. Remove the battery from its location and install a new one. Connect the positive terminal first, then the negative terminal. Finally, reinstall the bracket and the outer cover.
