In this video, you can see how to adjust the handbrake on a Chevrolet Cruze MK1: first, remove the glove compartment from the centre console to expose the handbrake adjustment mechanism located right underneath. Using a flathead screwdriver, push the spring forward so that it is fully under tension, and then adjust the screw by turning it clockwise to tighten (it is usually not necessary to loosen it further), until the handle has a maximum of three or four clicks, which are considered optimal for the tension of the handbrake lever.
