How to Change the Engine Oil and Oil Filter on a Citroen Xsara Picasso

Let's see how to change the oil and filter on a Citroen Xsara Picasso: slightly warm the oil, then lift the car using two axle stands. Open the bonnet and unscrew the oil cap to facilitate draining, then position a large container under the oil drain plug located under the vehicle and unscrew it, being careful during the last turns when the used oil will all come out at once. While the oil drains, unscrew the filter counterclockwise: you will also need a container here, as the filter is also full of oil. The used oil and filter must be disposed of properly at an authorised centre. Clean the seating area well, remove the gasket if it remains in place, take the new filter, lubricate the gasket with clean oil, and replace the filter. Fit a new gasket and cap to the sump, then lower the vehicle. Now, refill the oil from the top using a funnel: pour about 90% of the quantity indicated in the owner's manual. Close the cap and start the engine for 30 to 60 seconds to fill the filter, wait a couple of minutes, and then check the level with the dipstick, topping up again until reaching the "max" level, which must NEVER be exceeded.
