How to Replace the Glow Plugs on a Citroen C5

Glow plugs are fragile and can break during removal, especially if they are heavily worn. If they break, extraction becomes a complex operation, so proceed with caution. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and identify the glow plugs, which are located on the cylinder head, one per cylinder, near the injectors. They have a thick electrical cable connected to a terminal that you will need to remove. Number the cables with tape for correct reassembly. Clean the area around the glow plug, use WD-40 on the thread, and without forcing, extract it. If it breaks, consider seeking professional assistance. If all goes well, prepare the new glow plug: do not touch the part that goes into the engine with your fingers, screw the plug in by hand until it feels correctly threaded, then tighten with a torque wrench. Reconnect the electrical cables and the battery, and perform a start test.
