How to Change the Drum Brakes on a Citroen C3

On the Citroen C3, the procedure begins with the car lifted on a ramp, moving to the rear axle. With the rear wheel removed, work on the hub side drum: the video shows the use of a socket with a power tool to undo the central nut and free the drum, which is then removed to expose the entire brake assembly with shoes, springs, and adjuster. Once the drum is off, you will enter the heart of the job: detach the springs and fixings holding the shoes in place, progressively freeing the components one by one. Note that dedicated tools for springs and retainers are used, taking care not to let the springs 'pop' when relieving tension. At this stage, the brake cylinder and adjustment mechanism are also handled while removing the old hardware. Halfway through the job, the new kit is shown on the bench: new shoes and small parts. Then return to the Citroen C3 for reassembly: position the new shoes on the backing plate, replace the adjuster at the bottom, and reattach the return springs and retainers until the original geometry of the drum is restored. The video clearly shows the final result with the shoes already in place and the springs correctly mounted. Before closing everything up, clean the inside of the drum (cleaning with a cloth is visible), then reposition the drum on the hub and secure the central fastening. The final part also shows the bleeding process: the tube connected to the bleed valve and the spanner working on the nipple indicates that the system is being checked/reset after the intervention.
