The first operation to carry out is to lift the car on a lift and drain the gearbox oil (the drain plug is located in the rear part of the gearbox itself); then remove the left wheel, then the brake caliper and the head of the swinging arm of the suspension in order to free the hub and also be able to remove the drive shaft: then loosen the nut fixing the drive shaft to the hub and extract it also from the gearbox. Then proceed with the disassembly of the starter motor, the gear cables and the clutch cable; therefore unscrew the pins securing the gearbox to the engine block and the support that connects the gearbox to the car chassis. At this point it is possible to remove the gearbox and access the clutch.

Disassembly of the gear knob on the Lancia Ypsilon 2

Today we will see, in this video tutorial, how to remove and replace the gear knob on the second series Lancia Ypsilon, but also on the Lancia Musa, in simple and quick steps. We get inside the car and start by removing the old gear knob; to do this, just unscrew it anticlockwise, as shown in the video. At this point we also remove the gearshift gaiter, in order to replace, if necessary, it too; we just have to fix the new headset and insert the new gear knob, screwing it correctly and without creating play on the gear lever!
