Opening the bonnet is a good practice to ensure everything is in order under the engine bay; even if you know little about engines, it is wise to regularly check the car's fluids and top them up if necessary. For now, let's focus on just opening the bonnet; to operate the release mechanism, you need to act from inside the cabin.

At the front of the driver's door, beneath the dashboard, you will find the release lever; pull it to see the bonnet lift slightly. Now exit the vehicle and position yourself at the centre of the front bumper, lift the bonnet slightly and operate the safety release mechanism to open it fully.

On the right side of the vehicle, locate the bonnet stay and place it in the slot provided on the bonnet.

How to Activate the Disabled TRC on the Toyota Yaris?
