Restoring Leather Steering Wheel Cover

The deterioration of the leather covering on the steering wheel is a common issue: one solution could be to have it reupholstered by an upholsterer, or you can easily restore it yourself with a specific restoration kit (there are many products available on the market, and the cost for a kit is quite low). It is advisable to remove the steering wheel to perform a more thorough job. The cleaning and preparation phase is absolutely essential: start by washing the steering wheel with a degreaser, then continue with a silicone-free cleaner. Lightly sand the surface to eliminate wrinkles and help the dye adhere better. Apply the colour with the appropriate sponge, drying between coats. Once you achieve an even colour, apply the fixing catalyst: the result will be very satisfying.
