To replace the timing belt on a Fiat 500, open the bonnet to access the engine bay. You will need to remove the plastic covers located on the left side of the engine to access the underlying pulleys. By removing some obstructive parts like hoses and connectors, you can loosen the nut that secures the central pin of the tensioner roller, reducing the tension on the belt. This reduction in tension will allow you to slide off the belt and replace it with a new spare part; finally, reassemble all the other removed parts.
