How to Replace the Fuel Pump on a Fiat Punto

Model: Fiat Punto MK 2, 188 - Years 1999-2011

First, open and lift the bonnet. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery since you'll be dealing with petrol, and it's best to avoid having the electrical circuit closed during this simple but delicate task. Now, remove the cover above the engine because before removing the pump, you need to press the bleed valve of the pump to push all the petrol circulating in the pump back into the tank. After removing the cover, locate a valve to the left of the engine's intake duct. Unscrew the cap, and while covering the valve with a cloth, press the pin inside it. Now, lift the lower part of the rear seat to find the fuel tank cap. Unscrew the three screws and remove the black cap. Disconnect the connectors and unscrew the white cap to lift out the central part, which is the pump. Replace it and retrace your steps for reassembly.
