To replace the key fob battery in a Ford Mondeo, extract the emergency key by pressing the unlock button on the fob. Use the key itself or a small screwdriver to lever in the groove of the casing and separate the two halves. Once the fob is open, locate the button cell battery housed inside.

Remove the flat battery gently from its slot and insert the new one, ensuring the correct polarity is followed. Check that the battery is properly positioned and close the fob by aligning the two halves until they click together.

Reinsert the emergency key and test the buttons to ensure the fob operates correctly.
