How to Replace the Fuel Pump on a Ford Focus 1.8 TDI Mk1?

To remove the fuel pump on your Ford Focus Mk1 1.8 TDI, first access the rear of the car by removing the rear seat and lifting the underlying fabric. You will find a gap where the fuel pump is located. Use a spanner to unscrew the bolts holding it in place and pull it out of its housing. Next, remove the retaining ring from the pump; you can use a hammer and chisel to tap the sides (as shown in the video), or use a specific tool available commercially. Once removed, disconnect the fuel lines and the electrical connector, taking care of any fuel residues; now replace it with the new pump, reconnecting the connector and the fuel lines.
