How to Replace Front Brake Discs

Model: Ford Focus MK 1 - Years 1998-2004

This video shows how to replace the front brake discs on a Ford Focus. After raising the vehicle with a lift, remove the front wheel by unscrewing the fixing bolts. Now, with a Torx T45 screwdriver bit mounted on a ratchet, unscrew the two bolts that secure the caliper. Using your hands, detach the caliper from the disc by removing its clips. With a screwdriver, remove the retaining spring of the brake pads. At this point, you need to remove the disc: temporarily secure it with the wheel fixing bolts and then strike it firmly with a hammer to loosen it. When it is detached, remove the bolts and extract the disc. Now compress the caliper piston using a large C-clamp. Fit a new disc and new pads, and remount the caliper as before. Reattach the retaining spring and secure the caliper clips. Refit the wheel by performing the reverse operations of disassembly. Tighten the wheel bolts with the vehicle on the ground. Once the vehicle is stationary, press the brake pedal several times to bed in the disc.
