Ford Focus - Video tutorial

Model: Ford Focus MK 2, Focus 2 - Years 2004-2011
Part: Brake pads
Operation: How to replace the front brake pads

If you need to replace the brake pads, start by opening the brake fluid reservoir cap. If you can, remove some with a suitable vacuum cleaner, otherwise leave it open. Then loosen the wheel nuts and then raise the car with all the necessary precautions. Once the wheel has been removed, try to turn the hub outwards so as to have more ease and visibility of work. Remove the top and bottom caps as shown in the pictures. Unhook the shaped iron that acts as a spring then with a flat tip tool try to push back the piston that pushes on the pads. Then unscrew the two screws from behind to remove the brake caliper. Insert the new pads by pushing the piston further back. If necessary, if you find signs of wear, you can also change the disc, by loosening the two screws by hand and removing the caliper support and then the disc. When reassembling the caliper support, use the thread locker and make sure by hand that the screws are tightened well. Refit the brake caliper, the spring, the two caps on the back and finally the wheel. Operate the brake pedal a few times and check the fluid level in the brake reservoir, adding or removing it if necessary. Car model: Ford Focus Year: 2012

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
