How to Replace Front Brake Pads

Model: Ford Focus MK 2, Focus 2 - Years 2004-2011

If you need to replace the brake pads, start by opening the brake fluid reservoir cap. If possible, remove some fluid with a suitable siphon; otherwise, leave it open. Then loosen the wheel nuts and subsequently raise the car with all necessary precautions. Once the wheel is removed, try to turn the hub outward to have more working space and visibility. Remove the upper and lower caps as shown in the images. Disconnect the shaped clip that acts as a spring, then use a flat tool to push back the piston that presses on the pads. From behind, unscrew the two bolts to remove the brake caliper. Insert the new pads, pushing the piston back further. If you notice signs of wear, you can also change the disc by manually loosening the two bolts and removing the caliper bracket and then the disc. When reassembling the caliper bracket, use thread-locking fluid and ensure the bolts are securely tightened by hand. Refit the brake caliper, the spring, the two caps at the back, and finally the wheel. Press the brake pedal a few times and check the fluid level in the brake reservoir, adding or removing fluid as necessary. Car model: Ford Focus Year: 2012.
