Ford Focus - Video tutorial

Model: Ford Focus MK 1 - Years 1998-2004
Part: Brake discs
Operation: Car brake discs replacement

Safety in the car is one of the essential conditions of a good braking system. With a few simple steps you can get to change your car discs yourself. The brake discs must have a minimum thickness, which is indicated in the car's manual. Therefore, periodically it is a good idea to check that you have not passed it. If at least one is less than the prescribed minimum, the discs must be replaced. Many car manufacturers recommend replacing the discs around 80,000 km, it is also convenient to change the pads at the same time. First of all, you will need to turn the steering wheel on your side, so that the disc caliper is facing you. Jack up the car and remove the rim after removing the wheel bolts. Take a hex wrench and unscrew all the bolts that hold the caliper firmly to the frame on the rear side. Later, it will be possible to remove what is the brake caliper. At this point, only the caliper bracket will remain with the brake pads inside. The latter must be removed using a suitable flat screwdriver, paying particular attention not to damage the discs. The bolts that hold the bracket firmly to the hub must then be unscrewed. This will leave only the brake disc which will need to be replaced.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
