To replace the rear bumper of a Ford Explorer, open the tailgate so you can loosen the bolts securing the rear lights in their housings. Once these bolts are removed, you can extract the light and disconnect its connectors. When the lights have been removed, unscrew the underlying bolts securing the bumper; all other bolts are located under the seal and at the bottom of the bumper itself. Once these have been unscrewed, you can detach the bumper and replace it.
